Here in Ipswich we have many avenues for IEA Members to be involved:
Get added to our email list – To be added to our email list send your name, position, building, and personal email address to ieapresident.email@gmail.com.
Attend a 10 minute meeting – Our building reps host a 10 minute meeting before or after school every month. Keep an eye and ear out for the next one and join us to hear what’s going on in your union!
Join a Committee: send a quick email expressing your interest to ieapresident.email@gmail.com
Professional Development Committee – This advisory group is co-chaired by the IEA and the District. The group consists of 5 IEA members and 5 members of the administrative team and meets twice per year. The purpose of the group is to make recommendations to the Superintendent concerning the short-term and long-term goals of professional development for the district.
Ed Eval Committee – This group of 5 IEA members (president and one unit A member per school) meets periodically throughout the year with the superintendent and school administrators to discuss policies and practices regarding educator evaluation.
Mutual Concerns – This group of 5 IEA members (president and one unit A member per school) meets once every two months with school committee’s mutual concerns subcommittee, a principal, and the superintendent. We discuss matters of concern or interest to the IEA, School Committee, or administration. This is a great way to share our collective knowledge of the ideas and opinions of us as educators and our continued concern for the best interest of the school system.
ESP Response Team Committee – A newly negotiated provision in the ESP contract allowing for IEA voices when creating each building’s response team including which members of each building complete restraint training offered by the district.
Run for a Seat on our Eboard – Be on the lookout for an email in April or May for open Eboard seats and consider joining us. Not sure what to do, that’s okay. We’ll help you learn the ropes!
